COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course attempts to discuss the two most common types of welding and cutting (gas and arc), the danger that are involved in working with them and the safety measure that can be undertaken to minimize and prevent the occurrence of their associated hazards. The course goes on to study fire prevention techniques and the danger of preservative coatings when welding or cutting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Know the dangers of preservative coating and how to minimize them

This courses familiarizes the student of basic precautions and of the special precautions of paragraph (a)(2) of this section as well as a delineation of the fire protection and prevention responsibilities of welders and cutters, their supervisors (including outside contractors) and those in management on whose property cutting and welding is to be performed, see Standard for Fire Prevention in Use of Cutting and Welding Processes, NFPA Standard 51B, 1962. This course covers the topics included in OSHA 29 CFR1910.251-255 Subpart Q.
